Wisin & Yandel, Natti Natasha, Nicky Jam & More Set To Perform At Premios Tu Música Urbano
Following a series of blatant snubs at both the Latin and Anglophone Grammy ceremonies, there seems to be ample room for an urban Latin awards show to rightfully honor the wave of artists who have been responsible for infusing Latin music and soundscapes into mainstream audiences across the globe.
Last year, the Previous Tu Música Urbano answered the call, and this year, the program is set to reprise its role on Thursday, March 5th from Puerto Rico’s Coliseo José Miguel Agrelot. The second annual ceremony will be broadcast courtesy of Telemundo and has already over-delivered on its commitment to the urban Latin landscape via its nominees and scheduled performers.
It comes as no surprise that a name such as Bad Bunny is leading the year’s nomination with 19 total nods. Directly behind him is Anuel AA with 18 nominations while Daddy Yankee and J Balvin both claim 16 nominations. Ozuna is next with 15 total looks while Nicky Jam and Karol G both collect eight nominations.
Jam is set to be honored with the lifetime achievement award while also being on the bill to perform among the likes of Wisin y Yandel, Natti Natasha, Sech, Jhay Cortez, Farruko, CNCO, Sebastian Yatra, and Manuel Turizo.
Miss Universe winner and actress Zuleyka Rivera will return to host the live show which will be broadcast online via Telemundo Puerto Rico. A two-hour recast will air in the United States shortly after. Currently, fans can submit their vote for five special categories including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Concert of the Year, and World Tour.
